Originally starting out as a wholesale business serving the needs of jewelers and their stores in 1945, word of mouth spread about the quality and service at Crinzi & Gullo Jewelers.

“We had a following of people – friends and relatives – and it was growing,” recalled store owner Sam Gullo, who began working for the business doing repair and engraving work as just a teenager in 1964. “Just word of mouth. We eventually decided to open our doors to the public by expanding to retail as well.”

Crinzi & Gullo Jewelers has continued to nurture a loyal customer following over the years since opening its retail side of the business in the 1980s. Although the store remains popular, Gullo, 70, is deciding to close shop so he can retire.

To mark the occasion, Crinzi & Gullo Jewelers is having a huge going-out-of-business sale starting October 18, 2019. Expect to find huge discounts on modern and classic jewelry pieces – diamonds, gold, gemstones and more. With a variety of styles and price ranges, there is something for everyone. All inventory is included in the sale.

The store carries brand names including Alexis Bittar, Allison Kaufman, Benchmark, Bering Time, Elisa Ilana, Luca and SDC.

Gullo’s daughter Angela Gullo Peterson, who has taken over day-to-day operations of the store, said offering affordable, unique lines of jewelry has been appealing to customers.

“We carry all the traditional, classic styles but many our pieces are different,” she said.  “For example, we have an amethyst ring for sale – but it’s not just an amethyst. It’s paired with a garnet and a pink sapphire. It looks like a flower in bloom. These are the type of unique pieces we have for sale.”

She also referred to a beautiful blue topaz piece that’s off-centered.

“It’s unique,” she said. “It’s not a piece carried by a big-box store and you won’t see anyone else wearing it.”

Besides offering one-of-a-kind jewelry that’s reasonably priced, another key part of the store’s success is treating customers like friends.

“People felt comfortable with us,” Gullo said. “There’s this high level of trust we have with our customers.”

“Our store is warm and welcoming,” Peterson added. “It’s not a high-pressure store. We treat everybody as a friend.”

Shoppers have also praised the store in reviews left on its Facebook page.

“Friendly,” one customer wrote. “Good selection of unique pieces. Excellent customer service.”

“Angela was super patient and extremely helpful,” another customer who was looking at rings wrote. “We lucked out finding such a wonderful, knowledgeable jeweler.”

As Gullo and his daughter prepare to close the store, they reflected on their customers.

“We have multi-generations of customers shopping with us – they are like family,” he said. “We know when their anniversaries are, we know when their children were born. We know their birthdays. We’re just grateful we could play a positive part in their lives in some way.”

OUR STORY

Crinzi & Gullo Jewelers opened in 1945 downtown in the Ellicott Square Building. In February 2011, Crinzi & Gullo Jewelers opened its current location in Orchard Park, NY. At The Orchard, we continue to be family owned and operated.
Originally a wholesale store, servicing and repairing for jewelers and jewelry stores in Buffalo and throughout the state. Crinzi & Gullo Jewelers opened its door to the public in the 1980’s and offered the same satisfaction and service we offer the pros. We feel that staying up to date on the changing jewelry industry and jewelry education is very important in our business; therefore, owner, Sam Gullo is a Master Graduate Gemologist (GIA) and a proficient Diamond Setter and Angela Gullo Peterson is a Gemologist (GIA). We continue to repair jewelry, repair watches, sell fashion jewelry, and diamond jewelry including bridal engagement rings and wedding bands.

As they reach the end of the lease on their space, Sam has decided to retire at 70 years old.
